In Sudan, Super-Novae is deploying its first intervention since August 2024, in support of food security, the agricultural sector, and employment.

Sudan is currently facing a multifaceted crisis marked by serious political, security and socio-economic problems. Politically, the country is deeply divided, with an ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) that began in April 2023. This conflict has resulted in widespread violence and a major displacement crisis, with over 6.6 million people displaced within the country and 1.8 million people seeking refuge in neighbouring countries. Economically, the situation in Sudan is disastrous, with the IMF forecasting an 18.3% drop in GDP by 2024. More than 17.7 million people are facing acute food insecurity and the health system is collapsing, with 65% of the population having no access to care. This global crisis is compounded by epidemics, malnutrition and a messy education system, which affect millions of children and endanger the country's future stability.
What do we do
In Sudan, Super-Novae deployed its first intervention in August 2024, at the heart of its mandate, by responding to the humanitarian emergency and food insecurity with a sustainable solution: support for agriculture, and agricultural and food entrepreneurship.
With a local partner, Super-Novae will quickly deploy a first green incubator and a gas pedal in Kosti, aimed at 90 established farmers who want to analyze their business model to improve their productivity and access to the market, or to “agripreneurs”, i.e. young people who want to start their own agricultural or agricultural product processing business, in order to stimulate food production in the short and long term.
What's next
While Super-Novae is one of the only NGOs to concretely address the socio-economic reintegration of former combatants in Libya, we are particularly excited about the idea of developing such a project in Sudan, when the context is ripe enough, to support stability.
